I have been teaching for 7 years, but have been working with children in some capacity for as long as I can remember. It started when I went in to a 1st grade classroom during my recess time and worked with a little girl who didn't know her letters, and when she started to progress to learning site words, I realized I had found something I was good at and wanted to pursue. Flash forward to now - I teach 7th grade math and science, which in and of itself is hard to believe considering math was always my weakest subject until I got into college!
My passion is creating relationships with my students, and showing them what school is supposed to be about. I entertain them with my sarcastic wit and comedy central worthy roasts. I tell them stories from my real experiences to show them that it's okay to make mistakes, and that mistakes are how we learn. I listen to them when they're struggling, because big kids have big problems. I make it known that I will fill whatever capacity they require of me (counselor, friend, stand-in mother) because that is my job. I'm a teacher - it's my job to be whoever you need me to be, and maybe teach you some math along the way :)
